  •  Defendants sought to be recognized as “Mi’kmaw Indians of Mius d’Azy Indian Tribe” based on the fact that they’re 11th generation descendants of a Mi’kmaw woman who married a Frenchman named Mius d’Azy. The Federal Court ruled against them and the Supreme Court of Canada refused to hear the case. The New Brunswick Court of Queen’s Bench ruled against them, as did the court of appeal.
